Jasprit Bumrah will rejoin the squad ahead of the series-ending Dharamsala Test against England. The India vice-captain had been rested for the fourth Test in Ranchi with a view on managing his workload given the upcoming schedule which includes an IPL campaign followed closely by the T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies.
The 30-year-old Bumrah had been in outstanding form over the first three games of the series, taking 17 wickets at a 13.64. He was replaced by Bengal seamer Akash Deep in India's XI for the Ranchi Test. India also have Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar available in their squad to pick for a Test match that is expected to favour fast bowlers.
Meanwhile, senior batter KL Rahul has officially been ruled out of the Test after not fully recovering from a quadriceps injury that flared up after the series-opening Test in Hyderabad. As reported by Cricbuzz, Rahul was sent to London for an expert opinion.
Rahul's issue stems from pain in his right quadriceps, for which he underwent surgery last year. It is understood that there is still some stiffness, and given his importance to the side and the dual roles he fulfills for the team, the BCCI, selectors, and team management are reluctant to take any risks with him.
