SRH removed David Warner as captain for this new player😱😱🙄🙄

One of the most destructive openers across formats, David Warner captained SRH to their maiden tournament win in 2016. He was the second-highest run-scorer for them in their title-winning effort with a monumental 848 runs at a strike rate of 151.42. He had a good IPL season in 2017 as well and returned back strong in 2019 scoring 692 runs in 12 matches. As captain in the 2020 IPL edition, he took Sunrisers Hyderabad to No.3 on the points table.

Warner Consistency

This consistency is the reason why Warner is the only player to have won 3 Orange Caps- awarded to the highest run-scorer each season. He won them in 2015, 2017 and 2019.
All in all, Warner has scored a total of 5254 runs in 142 innings at an average of 42.71, which is also the highest average in the league. He has an IPL-career strike rate of 141.54. He has eight centuries and 48 half-centuries to his name.
In the list of most fours hit in the IPL, Warner is only second to Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan. While Dhawan has hit 601 boundaries, southpaw Warner has smashed 510 of them.

Keypoint

With 2 more T20 matches Warner will be playing his 300th T20 match. He will be 32nd player to play 300 T20 matches.
-Warner needs 176 runs more to complete 10000 T20 runs, he will be the 4th batsman to achieve this feast after Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Shoaib Malik.
-Warner needs two more catches to complete 150 catches in T20s.
-Warner needs 5 sixes to complete 200 sixes in IPL.
-Warner needs 88 runs more to complete 1000 runs vs KKR in IPL, he would be the 1st player to score a 1000 runs vs any team in IPL.

"The decision has not come lightly as the management respects the enormous impact David Warner has had for the franchise over a number of years," the Sunrisers statement said announcing the captaincy change said. "As we face the remainder of the season, we are sure David will continue to help us strive for success both on and off the field."

Although the franchise hasn't mentioned anything officially, it is possible Warner might not be part of their match tomorrow.

Prithvi Shaw became the second batsman to do so in IPL history😱🙄

Superstar Prithvi Shaw became the first batter to hit six fours in the first over of a T20 innings when he achieved the feat against Kolkata Knight Riders' fast bowler Shivam Mavi on Thursday in Ahmedabad. Shaw also became only the second batter to achieve this record in the IPL, after Ajinkya Rahane did the same off S Aravind against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012

Here's cricketutkarsh.blogspot.com ball-by-ball description of Shaw's opening over blitz:

0.1: Shivam Mavi to Shaw, FOUR runs. Pumped over Mavi's head. Pitched up and swings in at off, it lands in Shaw's arc. He brings out a high-elbowed punch

0.2: Shivam Mavi to Shaw, FOUR runs. Another inswinger, too full, too straight. Shaw picks it up and whips it with the wrists over midwicket for back-to-back fours

0.3: Shivam Mavi to Shaw, FOUR runs. Overpitched and outside off, Shaw drills a drive through the line. Stroked to the right of sweeper

0.4: Shivam Mavi to Shaw, FOUR runs. Low full-toss outside off, Shaw leans into this slower ball, delays the drive, and steers it away to the right of sweeper once again. Four fours on the trot for Shaw

0.5: Shivam Mavi to Shaw, FOUR runs. Make that five fours in a row for Shaw. He sizes up this short ball outside off and scythes it away through backward point. Mavi looks rattled. Morgan has a chat with the young seamer

0.6: Shivam Mavi to Shaw, FOUR runs. Six successive fours for Shaw. This is not a half-volley. On a length and outside off, hit over the top once again. Driven strongly over extra-cover

I knew where he will bowl to me: Prithvi Shaw

Speaking post-match, Prithvi Shaw said that he knew where the bowler was going to bowl. “Wasn’t thinking anything to be honest. Was just waiting for the loose balls. We’ve played for four-five years now [with Mavi], so I knew where he will bowl to me. I was prepared [for the short ball]. The first four-five balls he bowled were half-vollies so I was prepared for the short ball but unfortunately he didn’t bowl.”

“On this wicket especially when the spinner is bowling, it wasn’t coming very nicely onto the bat. Was stopping a little. Was waiting for them to bowl at me on off stump or outside so I can free my hands. When I’m in there, I keep playing and don’t think about the score. I don’t think about myself, just want the team to win,” he said.

Will such a big player get out of IPL- 2021

New Zealand fast bowler Scott Kuggeleijn has joined Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement for Australia quick Kane Richardson.

New Zealand pacer Scott Kuggeleijn has been roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore as Kane Richardson's replacement, Kuggeleijn was already a part of the IPL bio-bubble as Mumbai Indians' reserve player and he will now make the switch to bolster a squad that was hit by departures recently.

Scott Kuggelejin Career

Scott is a great first-class bowler and a handy bowler in T20s. He has picked up 118 wickets in 120 T20 games he has played in. He has featured in 2 ODIs and 16 T20I for New Zealand. Scott was a part of the IPL season 2019, where he played for the CSK franchise. He played two games for them and picked a couple of wickets. Along with his bowling, in the domestic season of 2021, he showed his skills with the bat as well in the lower order.

India and Delhi Capitals off-spinner
Ravichandran Ashwin has decided to cut short his IPL to ‘support’ his family and extended family in their ‘fight against Covid’. Ashwin is the biggest name to pull out of the tournament.

Three Australians have left citing ‘personal reasons’ and an Englishman returned because of bubble fatigue. After the matches in Chennai and Mumbai, the IPL caravan is moving to Delhi and Ahmedabad before rounding off the group league phase in Bangalore and Kolkata. The first match in Delhi is on Wednesday, a city that has been facing an acute oxygen shortage. India recorded over 3.52 lakh new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours ending 8 am on Monday.

How many players have left yet?

Five as of now. Apart from Ashwin, Rajasthan Royals seamer Andrew Tye and his teammate Liam Livingstone have returned home. On Monday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) informed through a tweet that leg-spinner Adam Zampa and seaming allrounder Kane Richardson would be returning to Australia. The tweet, however, mentioned “personal reasons”.

Why has Ashwin left?

After the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the senior off-spinner put out a tweet, saying: “I would be taking a break from this year’s IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals”.

A few days previously, Ashwin’s wife Prithi had mentioned that the virus had reached their doorstep. According to a franchise official, a “big chunk” of the off-the-field conversations in the team have been revolving around the situation outside. “There are players and/or support staff in the team whose close relatives have been affected by the virus. It’s not easy,” he said.

Shikhar Dhawan or KL Rahul, who should open with Rohit Sharma?

India vs England T20I series: Perhaps rotating Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Shikhar Dhawan at the top of the order against England could make sense ahead of the World T20 in October.

Who will open with Rohit Sharma Shikhar Dhawan or K l Rahul? This is a vital selection issue that Virat Kohli will have to address during the 5-Match T20 series against England.

Dhawan and Rahul were openers for the T20-leg of the Australian tour last year since Rohit was out nursing a hamstring injury. Now that India’s vice-captain is fit and in sparkling form with the bat, he automatically makes the cut at the top of the order.

What does KL Rahul bring to the table as an opener?

Simply put, his explosive big-hitting. Over the last 18 months, Rahul has been India’s most prolific batsmen in the shortest format. He was the Orange Cap holder in IPL 2020 — stacking up 670 runs from 14 games. Since July 2019, he has amassed 663 runs from 17 T20 innings, with seven 50s to his tally, outscoring Dhawan, who could muster 359 runs from 13 innings during this period.

More than the runs, it’s Rahul’s strike-rate that stands out — an impressive 140 —-which is far superior to Dhawan’s not-so-flattering 120.88. Teaming up with Rohit, they score at an impressive average of over 50, while maintaining a robust run-rate of a shade under 10.

Going by these numbers alone, Rahul should make it to the team-sheet in all the five games against England.

Does this mean that Shikhar Dhawan is out of the reckoning?

While there’s little doubt about Rahul’s prowess in white-ball cricket in recent times, Dhawan career strike-rate of 128, more than his runs, stands out.

Dhawan, unlike Rahul takes time to get into his groove, and tends to be circumspect against spinners in Powerplay. Nevertheless, the 35-year-old, like Rahul, did enjoy a prolific run in the last IPL, plundering 617 runs for the Delhi Capitals with back-to-back centuries.

Having him as an opener gives this team the much-needed variety of having a left-hander in the top 5 that consists of right-handers — Rohit, Kohli, Shreyash Iyar and Hardik Pandya.

Is there room to accommodate both Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul in the playing XI

In such a scenario, Rahul will have to drop to the No. 4 spot, and the axe may fall on Iyer — or Surya Kumar Yadav wait to get into the playing XI may become longer. However, this move could be counterproductive for a few reasons.

On current form, Rahul is by far India’s b
est T20 batsman, and sending him down the order would mean that the team will miss out on the impetus and pyrotechnics that he provides upfront. In a frenetic T20 game that has only 120 deliveries per innings, it’s imperative that the best batsman in the team gets to face the maximum number of deliveries. Also, this could end up shattering the confidence of Iyer, who has just settled into the role of a No. 4 batsman
.

So, is rotation of players the way forward?

It seems to be a pragmatic approach, considering India will hardly play any more T20s in the run-up to the World T20, which is scheduled in India in October this year.

This series assumes significance because it will serve as an ideal preparatory ground ahead of the showpiece ICC event. Therefore, rotating Sharma, Rahul, and Dhawan at the top of the order against England could make sense.
